Excellent ski trip
We booked apartment Sylvestre for a week over February half term. It was a perfect place to stay for a family of five. The views were stunning, the apartment was well equipped and the owners were very friendly and helpful. We skied at Puy St Vincent every day and visited the igloos and tobogganing at Pelvoux. On the evening there was plenty to do but we chose to stay in playing games, watching DVDs and using the free wifi. We will definitely will be returning.

An Unspoilt Gem
I almost don't want to say too many good things about this area as its so beautiful and unspoilt. Chalet Chabrand is just right with everything you could need. It feels homely yet its spacious. The views from every aspect are stunning. I went in the winter but can imagine it must be beautiful in all seasons. A short walk to the boulangerie each morning for fresh bread, a weekly market and the bells chiming hourly from the church add to its charm. I've already booked to go back!

Spacious, comfortable and located in a beautiful village
Apartment Silvestre was very good, but it was the support from the owner Jerry which prompted the review. Our care hire company gave use faulty snow chains and Jerry, cheerfully, drove me around until we located new ones thus saving our holiday. His background knowledge of the area was invaluable, resulting in an excellent ski holiday. We had a choice of 3 large resorts within 45 minutes drive. The apartment would also be a great place for an active summer holiday.

We had an amazing time here and cant wait to come back some time soon. Highly recommended!
Vallouise is a very pretty town, surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is just a few minutes drive from the local ski resort which was perfect and also 30 minutes drive to a larger ski resort if you fancy a change, We were given a very warm welcome by the owners, who were kind and helpful throughout our stay. L'Acacia had everything that we needed, it was warm and comfortable and felt like home. We had an amazing time here and cant wait to come back some time soon. Highly recommended.

A wonderful fortnight in Vallouise!
We have walked, climbed, cycled, mountain biked, swam, enjoyed Via Ferrata, and village markets, making the most of the stunning mountains. We have loved our adventures here and found Apt Eyrie a comfortable and well-equipped base with fantastic views. Thank you for sharing your apartment with us

Hi Jerry,
I just wanted to write to say that we all had an excellent week out in the Ecrins, and it was great to meet you - the local advice and recommendations were invaluable, and we got alot more ice climbing and ski touring in as a result of your knowledge, being back at work came as a shock but the break was terrific. Ric and I were both saying that it was great to meet and talk to someone whose values and visions of how life should be aligned nicely with ours, and the area is just beautiful. Many thanks again for making the week excellent!

Cheers, Tom Moat

Fantastic week's cycling in the Alps!
Nearly 350Km cycled and over 8000m. of ascent! Climbed Col D'Izoard and the Galibier. Beautiful weather and scenery. Great scenery and lovely chalet.

Thank you Jerry and Jackie
For a warm welcome and all your advice. One week was way too short and we will definitely have to come back to explore this wonderful part of the Alps. Chalet Chabrand is beautiful and the surroundings even more so! MERCI BEAUCOUP!

Thanks so much for a great holiday.
Dave King was a good recommendation for the rafting & the mountain biking was excellent. Sam & I met a local French biker & he showed us a fantastic red trail down from Puy St Vincent back to the village. We loved the area and would appreciate if you could email us details of your properties to rent as we would like to return. Please let us have the options as we may have Sam's girlfriend along next time. We may also be tempted for a skiing week as well.

Our break simply wasn't long enough!
The apartment was perfect, second to none, funny thing was seeing Dave actually doing some 'house cleaning'. What ever next!!
We are planning another trip to the Ecrins, however we would like to look at doing some alpine or maybe even go up the barres de ecrins, could you advise on guides and assist ? Need more blood pumping epics :-)!! Jerry, we wouldn't hesitate in recommending AlpBase and I know we'll booking with yourself again soon!! Thanks again.

Dear Jerry & Jackie
Sitting on a green and sunny (if a little parky) Cumbrian Fell waiting for a D of E group to rock up, I find myself drifting back, as I frequently do, to our recent fortnight of fun in Apt. Meleze (no idea where the accents are on this xenophobic iPhone!). We loved it so much we are moving out tomorrow...haha, not quite, but I'll leave the details of our future plans for Kim to explain.
I just wanted to write and thank you for your kindness, generosity, professionalism and great company during our Easter trip to Vallouise. The village is uniquely located and serves as an ideal base for just about everything we could imagine wishing to do (and many things that probably haven't even occurred to us yet!). No distance from the Alpine majesty of the Vallees Blanche et Noir, and the woods and meadows of Ailefroide, and closer still to the delights of Puy-St-Vincent, where we regularly found ourselves the exclusive occupants of great wide sweeping red runs through the trees and Kim's famous 'bonkers' powder. We set a tiny scratch on the surface of the valley's cragging potential, and failed this time to even get our Via Ferrata kit unzipped, so busy were we with everything else.
There was no toy/bit of kit that could not be borrowed, hired or acquired very reasonably within the village, and your evening lecture and the seemingly endless supply of local knowledge from both of you proved invaluable. How ultimately thoughtful of you to even have a dog you could lend us!

Meleze itself has a great chalet feel for a cutesy apartment, all wood and tiles and warmth. It was perfect for a pair of friendly adult couples and the matching east west balconies guaranteed both morning coffee and aperos in the sunshine. Sunny evening beers were drunk in alongside alpenglow views of the Narreyroux which I remember particularly fondly. And all this a hop and skip from the bread lady and the bar!

Everything worked perfectly, except when Jerry turned our hot water off (revenge for my QuickDraw faux-pas I expect...) :-)
We loved it. All of it. You have a super slick, friendly little set up out there, and you certainly made us think. We will be back, not soon enough for me, and this time hopefully for longer. We might even bring a dog to play with Bertie, so don't move to the beach yet! Thank you. For everything. We had a hoot. And you Gores provided so much for us than just an alp base.
Keep in touch. Come and stay.

We have just returned from the most wonderful week at Alpbase in Valllouise, France.
We cannot thank Jackie and Jerry enough for being the most attentive and friendly hosts. Our chalet was just perfect for the 6 of us - we loved the picturesque garden, the most spectacular views of the mountains, the charming village of Vallouise, the delicious meals cooked by Jackie, the best fire place we have ever seen, waking to the sound of the mountain stream and the smell of fresh croissants.... Jerrry and Jackie were so knowledgeable and so happy to guide us in our explorations of the area. Jerry was the perfect guide on the day out on the Via Ferratta, and Jackie kept us busy with new hikes and visits to neighbouring villages. The ski hills were minutes away, and again Jackie and Jerry gave us so many tips on access, ski rental (complete with discount), conditions and so much more. The chalet was charming, spacious, clean, and perfect for week combining mountain activities and family relaxation. We could have stayed another week, if our waistlines could handle it! Thank you Jackie and Jerry for one of our best family vacations ever. We cannot wait to come back!

Sincerely, Kelley, Henry, Charles and Grace Johnson (Canada via Belgium) and Danny and Susie Plumpton (Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada)

We've had a fab holiday in your lovely apartment!
Especially enjoyed the stunning view from the living room/balcony. Thoroughly appreciated the superbly equipped kitchen - all clean, modern and working well. Superb info on all activities with your AlpBase guides and Jerry and Jackie's recommendations. Despite late in the ski season we enjoyed visiting the local ski resort of Puy-St-Vincent, Monetier Les Bains and Montgenevre. Couple of nice walks, hot baths in Monetier, and even a day trip to Turin! Thank you again and we will definitely be back!!

Thanks Jerry for all your help and support. Great service!
We made it up in to the Massif des Cerces and did Feu Sacre on the Tour Termier on Saturday afternoon. What a place! Great rock and delicate exposed climbing all 1 hour from the road. Really impressed. Back to work now though but hopefully back to the Ecrins soon, possibly in the winter.I hope the weather stays good and the bookings come in.

Where did that 2 weeks chilled out holiday go
We love Chalet Chabrand and Vallouise, it's like home from home and instantly relaxes us....... We are full force back into the rat race here in the UK, but I suppose we have to keep going as it pays for the great trips we have. Thanks again to you and Jackie for inviting us round for drinks and nibbles, it was really lovely. I spoke to Chris about coming out mountain biking with you in May, so I have cc'd him on this email as a reminder. He's having drinks down in the big smoke tonight, I'm sure he said he was going to the Ritz hotel with one of his lawyers.....how the other half live hey!? We are also trying to work out a late summer trip with the 'boys' (and me!). I said they can't come out to see you guys without me tagging along. You take care of yourselves and thanks so much for making our ski trip really one to remember!!! Love to Jackie
